Carlos Bonell is a celebrated classical guitarist and educator, with a dynamic career spanning over four decades on stage, more than 20 albums, and performances across 40 countries.
London-born in 1949 and initiated into music by his Spanish father at the age of 5, Bonell flourished at the Royal College of Music under John Williams’ tutelage, becoming its youngest-ever professor at 22. Bonell’s Decca recording of Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez is widely thought of as the definitive rendition.
Bonell's trailblazing work includes the Magical Mystery Guitar Tour and Queen Guitar Rhapsodies, blending classical with popular music. He has founded the London International Guitar Festival, and has recently worked with Sir Paul McCartney on editing, notating, and recording a guitar concerto. His pandemic-born Zoomed Guitars Live project reflects his dedication to global guitar education and community-building.
