Adrian Butterfield
meet YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Adrian Butterfield

Adrian Butterfield occupies a unique space in the world of violin, given his focus on period performance and his many years of active artistry and pedagogy.

He started playing the violin at four years of age, and would eventually complete postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music in London.

He is a founder of the London Handel Players, which debuted at Carnegie Hall in 2014. As a conductor, he has led hundreds of Bach’s choral works and Cantatas, as well as many works by Handel. He has directed the London Mozart Players, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, the European Union Chamber Orchestra, and other noted ensembles.

Butterfield is a sought-after master class instructor throughout Europe and North America. He specializes in period performance of 17th-19th century music, and is currently Professor of Baroque Violin at his alma mater, the Royal College of Music.
