Regino Sainz de la Maza was a Spanish classical guitarist and composer from the early twentieth century.

Born in Burgos in 1896, Regino Sainz de la Maza had his first guitar when he was ten, and gave his first concert when he was fourteen. Although he started to play as a hobby, in time his passion for music would grow until it became his profession. He studied in such cities as San Sebastián, Bilbao and Madrid.

He was a friend of Federico García Lorca and Manuel de Falla, among other artists. He gave one of his most successful recitals in 1940 in the Palau de la Música Auditorium in Barcelona, with the premiere of “El Concierto de Aranjuez”, composed for him by his friend Joaquín Rodrigo.

He travelled widely giving concerts, and won many awards not only in Spain, but also in other countries like Argentina and Japan. His last concert was in 1979, in San Nicolás Church in Burgos. He died in Madrid in 1981.
