I. Nicht zu schnell
In the first movement, we learn about the many alternating, manic emotional sides of this work. How do we alternate characters and balance the deep technical challenges?
II. Langsam
One of the most intimate, tender movements in the entire literature. Ferrández shows us how to create a warmth in the vibrato and a smooth legato, singing sound.
III. Sehr lebhaft
This movement, the final one, has a certain Germanic solidity to it. We learn how to find the stability needed and how to practice the fiendishly difficult infamous passage work.
