Master flutist and educator Mark Sparks is equally renowned for his achievements as a soloist and his gift for inspired teaching.
Sparks attended the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and thereafter embarked on a career with Canton Symphony Orchestra (Ohio) and the Caracas Symphony (Venezuela). He would rise to the position of Principal Flutist of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, a position he held for two decades until his retirement from the role in May 2021.
Sparks is on the faculty of DePaul University and the Aspen Music Festival and School, and was formerly full-time faculty member of the Peabody Institute. He is a prolific author with several books currently in progress, and continues to lead clinics for flutists in the U.S. and beyond.
