Marianne Gedigian is a highly-esteemed flutist and educator, recognized for her sterling musicality and transformative teachings.
Raised near Detroit, Michigan, Gedigian studied under esteemed flutists Clement Barone, Doriot Anthony Dwyer, and Leone Buyse. Currently Professor of Flute and holder of the Butler Professorship at the Butler School of Music (University of Texas at Austin), Gedigian has served as Principal Flute with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, and Acting Principal Flute for the Boston Pops, the Pittsburgh Symphony, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Seiji Ozawa.
Gedigian has collaborated with famed composer John Williams, with her work being featured on iconic film scores such as Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan. She has been heard on multiple recordings, television broadcasts, and national Fourth of July broadcast specials.
Beyond her performance accolades, Gedigian is passionate about music education, delivering masterclasses to the New York Flute Club, various festivals, and at the National Flute Association Convention. She has previously held teaching positions at Boston University and The Boston Conservatory, and has served on the summer faculty at the Brevard Music Center, Round Top International Institute, and Tanglewood Music Center.
