Dominic Cheli teaches the beginnings of playing scales through the 5-finger hand position as well as healthy habits to start incorporating into your playing immediately.

General Principles for Scales and Setting up the Hand

In this lesson, Dominic Cheli teaches general principles for scales, setting up the hand, understanding enharmonic equivalanices and the importance of parallel/relative minor keys. In addition he provides advice on playing the "fastest" scales at the keyboard: glissandos

How to Play Two-Octave Arpeggios and the Role of the Thumb

In this lesson, Dominic talks about the role of the thumb in playing 2 types arpeggios: slower legato ones, and faster virtuosic ones.

How to Play Basic Triads

In this lesson, Dominic Cheli teaches you how to play basic triads, voicing chords, using different parts of your body depending on the musical passage, and an intro to playing octaves.

How to Play Staccato

In this lesson, Dominic Cheli teaches how to play staccato (short) notes. He talks about using the finger, wrist, and arm as well as why staccato notes can be the most physically demanding of any articulation.

How to Use the Right Pedal, and Pedaling Basics
