Emanuel Ax

Born in Lvov, Poland, Emanuel Ax moved to Winnipeg, Canada with his family when he was a young boy before settling in New York. He studied with Mieczysław Munz at the Juilliard School and subsequently won the prestigious Young Concert Artists Award. Emanuel captured public attention in 1974 when he won the first Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Tel Aviv. Winner of the coveted Avery Fisher Prize, Ax is a 7-time GRAMMY Award-winner and exclusive Sony Classical recording artist since 1987. He's a perennial favorite at Carnegie Hall, and is well known for his collaborations with his long-time friend, Yo-Yo Ma.
