Leon Fleisher's Lifelong Companion

In this magical moment, Leon Fleisher returns to a piece he calls his "lifelong companion," the Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1. Fleisher made what is widely considered the definitive recording of this work with the Cleveland Orchestra in 1958. He performed it once again after regaining the use of his right hand in the 1990s. Here he is in the final months of his life, and this is the last time on record he'll ever play this piece on record that is so closely associated with him.
