Two pianists can play the same chord and produce two completely different sounds.

The difference? Voicing.

In this free lesson segment from his Grieg Piano Concerto course, Jon Kimura Parker walks through the voicing exercise he uses to build independent control over every finger.

His test is simple: play five notes together, bring out one with arm weight, then release that note. If the others aren't still sounding softly underneath, the control isn't there yet.
