Concert classical guitarist Tengyue (TY) Zhang was the First Prize winner of the world's most prestigious international guitar competition—Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition (GFA-ICAC) in 2017.

He has also been the First Prize winner at numerous other prestigious international guitar competitions, including the GFA International Guitar Competition Senior Division, the Forum Gitarre Wien International Guitar Youth Competition (Vienna, Austria), the Changsha International Guitar Competition (China), the Schadt String Competition (U.S.), and the Alexander Frauchi International Guitar Competition (Moscow, Russia)

TY was born in Hebei, China. He began to study classical guitar at the age of five with his father. At the age of seven, TY was introduced to the world-renowned Professor Chen Zhi, with whom he studied during middle and high school at the music school attached to the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.

In 2012, TY was accepted into The Juilliard School Undergraduate program on a full scholarship. He is currently pursuing his Master's degree at Juilliard under the guidance of Professor Sharon Isbin.
