On The Thumb

Taught by renowned guitarist

Bahar Ossareh

Bahar Ossareh finishes her three-part series on the right hand with an examination of the thumb and how the length, position, and stroke all affect the sound you produce. Bahar begins the lesson by drawing out the four primary thumbnail shapes that one should work off to find what is best for them. Later in the lesson, she shares a method for deciding on the optimal length for your thumbnail. Other ideas covered in this lesson include moving from the proper joints, alling flesh and nail to avoid the “clicking” noise, and creating different timbres.
