Course Syllabus

Arpeggios and Right-Hand Preparation

Basic arpeggios are vital to the development of right hand technique. In this lesson, you'll learn about the importance of right hand preparation and some fundamental arpeggio patterns. The exercises presented will help you understand and develop some fundamental movements for right hand guitar technique!

Basic Chord Relationships

In order to truly understand what is going on in a given piece of music, you need to learn some basic theory! This lesson will help you see how the chords that you've been working on throughout the previous two lessons relate to one another musically. This skill will be incredibly important in empowering you to develop your own musical interpretations.

Conclusion

In the conclusion of his course, Mircea goes over some of the skills and knowledge you've gained and gives some final advice!

Dynamics

In this lesson, you'll be learning one of the most important concepts in music that we haven’t yet discussed - and one that will drastically increase your means of artistic expression. Dynamics. They are an incredibly important tool allowing us to shape phrases, give particular importance to certain parts of music, craft beautiful melodies, and express ourselves through music in a creative and inspiring way.

Four Note Chords

In this lesson, the focus will be four-note chords. These are going to become the foundation of much of what is yet to come in the course. Mircea introduces some basic exercises that will help you prepare for the next lesson, Arpeggios and Right Hand Preparation.

Introduction

Welcome to the second tonebase Beginning Guitar course! In this quick introduction, Mircea Gogoncea introduces the course and gives an overview of what to expect.

Learning Malagueña Fácil Part 1

In this lesson, you'll learn the first half of the Malagueña Fácil and how to practice it!

Learning Malagueña Fácil Part 2

It's time to learn the rest of the Malagueña Fácil! In this lesson, you will put all the pieces together and get tips on how to practice and perform the piece in its entirety.

Left Hand Positions

In this lesson, you will be learning more about the fretboard, notes that can be played in multiple places on the guitar, and what left hand ''positions” are all about.

Left Hand Positions in Malagueña Fácil

In this lesson, you'll begin working on Tarrega’s “Malagueña Fácil”, the final piece in this course! The focus will be specifically on one of the more difficult passages. You will learn how to break it down into achievable sections applying the knowledge you've gained throughout the course!

More Complex Patterns and Rasgueados

In this lesson, you will be learning an excerpt from Carulli's Ecole de Guitare in order to develop some more complex right hand patterns, and a simple rasgueado. Both of these skills are vital to understand in order to prepare the Malagueña Fácil at the end of the course!

Pieces That Use Chord Patterns

In this lesson, you will be learning a longer piece, Ferdinando Carulli’s Poco Allegretto op. 246. This beautiful short piece is based almost entirely on chord patterns you have already learned in this course!

Slurs

It's time to shift focus and take a look at some left hand techniques! In this lesson, Mircea covers the nuances of hammer-ons and pull-offs, how to synchronize movements in both hands, and gives some tips for creating clear slurs!

What Makes a Chord?

This lesson covers some fundamental theory concepts: Intervals and constructing chords. Once you understand how chords are built, you'll be equipped to easily analyze the music that you learn!
