Mastering Your Solo

This is it! All that's left to do is put your learnings into context and master your own piece. Kai teaches you methods for starting and ending an official Solea and then shows you how to put it all together.

The Art Of The Thumb

In Flamenco, the thumb is perhaps your most important tool. This lesson breaks down the different way Flamenco guitarists use their thumb, from the different types of strokes to playing your very first falseta.‍

Even More Compás

Not convinced compás is important? Well maybe this second lesson will change your mind. After the initial introduction to the topic, Kai now dives deeper into its rhythmic complexities and many variations.‍

What Is Flamenco?

In this first lesson, Kai teaches a few key Flamenco terms, talks about the primary differences between the classical and Flamenco styles and demonstrates some the variety of rhythms and sounds in Flamenco.

On Arpeggio Picado

Arpeggio's are a technique shared between classical and Flamenco guitar. Picado on the other hand, is unique to Flamenco. In this lesson, Kai explains what it is, when to use it and helps build your rest stroke.

What The Heck Is Alzapua?

Alzapua - you may have heard the term. But what the heck is it? Kai breaks down this fiery thumb technique and demonstrates how to achieve clear rhythm and sound when performing it in a solo.

All About Rasgueados

You may have strummed the guitar before, but if you're a traditional classical guitarist, you'll be impressed with the fine motor skills Kai demonstrates in this lesson on Rasgueados and this unique technique.

Demystifying Compás

This lesson is all about Compás! What the word means. How to think about the 12-beat cycle. How to approach the variations of it. A term that can mean so many things at once, Kai demystifies and breaks it down!

On Rasgueados

Kai Narezo teaches proper rasgueado technique and shares the best approach to making them effortless and pain free.

After demonstrating an important adjustment in the right hand thumb, Narezo goes into the mechanics of executing rasgueado strokes and describes his concept of the “world’s loosest fist.” Once the basic movements are covered, Narezo puts them into action and teaches the steps to developing a relatively simple triplet rasgueado. The lesson concludes with examples from different Flamenco styles including soleares and tangos.
