Ashley Lucero

Ashley M. Lucero is a guitarist, composer, and educator located in Los Angeles, CA. As a classical and flamenco guitarist, she explores multiple styles and is a known improviser. She has been teaching privately for over a decade including but not limited to private lessons, elementary guitar classes, university courses in music theory, ensemble direction and coaching on both the primary and post-secondary level, and masterclasses. As a performer, she plays recitals both solo and in ensemble for both public and private audiences. She has competed on the national level, winning multiple first prizes in ensemble competitions and other prizes in solo artist divisions. In 2017, she performed as part of the UTSA Guitar Quartet on a national concert tour in Cuba. She has been commissioned to write new pieces by both solo artists and professional ensembles such as the Austin Classical Guitar Youth Orchestra and the UTSA Women's Chorus, and also regularly performs her own compositions. She has earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Texas at San Antonio under the tutelage of award-winning composer Matthew Dunne. Ashley is now a music lecturer at the Baptist University of the Americas where she teaches both classical guitar and music theory. She is also pursuing her DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts) at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles under Grammy award winner William Kanengiser. Her acceptance into the Thornton School of Music included a full scholarship and she was awarded as the ’20-’21 recipient of the Guitar Salon International Award for her "notable extracurricular outreach work in education and the community."
